Emily Thomas, Ph.D., L.P., H.S.P.
Emily Thomas, Ph.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist and health service provider in the state of Iowa. She is currently a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Iowa in the Psychological and Brain Sciences department. Dr. Thomas directs the THRIVE Lab, which investigates the therapeutically modifiable processes that impact the development of adverse outcomes following trauma, adversity, and stress. Her lab is interested in utilizing brief behavioral therapy interventions to reduce human suffering and increase resilience. Dr. Thomas' work has focused on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) interventions to facilitate psychological flexibility, internet-delivered interventions and micro-interventions, perinatal and postpartum health, Veteran health, the long-term sequelae of trauma, and the psychiatric and social impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
